over and around us: Week of May 21-27 2012

We drove to Brian Head on Sunday afternoon, road the lift to the top and saw the amazing, simply amazing! solar eclipse. Then we froze at the top of the mountain, waiting in line to get back on the lift, as the sun went down. Got in a traffic jam at midnight in the middle of nowhere and arrived home at 2am.

Ella completes her first chapter book. Titled Race Against Time. Her plan is to edit and ask people for critique all summer. And then submit it for publication. :)
Asher is also mid-chapter book! His is titled The Six Scrolls.
We finished our Redwall read-aloud.
Ella and Ethan finished lessons with their current violin teacher (if you follow that link, you'll notice a surprise!). In the Fall, Ella will start with a new teacher (we're very excited)....and Ethan's situation has yet to be ironed out.
Ella spent Saturday afternoon baking desserts for dinner with friends.
We are approaching our last week of full-school. During June we'll have a different schedule----morning gymastics twice a week and every-day swim lessons begin. We'll continue with journal, Ella's math, and our US history study until we leave on our trip.
Irrigation has begun in our neighborhood. Ethan, especially, has always been so energized by the "water chase". He tracks it's progress on our daily walks. And when it is on our block----look out! He is definitely a "man with a plan". He used to say that when he grows up he wants to be a water master. Last week, though, he informed me that he doesn't want to be a water master as a job. He wants to work in the snow-cone shack.
