Glut

Jenn has been having a discussion that always holds my interest.  How to save money on groceries AND eat well, too...and if these two goals can be combined.  She mentions organic, CSAs (which we just joined today!), menu planning, eating in season, etc.

So, in honor of this topic, and As Cozy as Spring--one of my favorite blogs--here is our dinnertime example of eating cheap, healthy, and local.  Peach Smoothies...good for you and very cheap if you have a neighbor that delivers bags of fruit to your door every few days.  Of the many things I love showing up at my door, August tomatoes and peaches are sure favorites!

My recipe for a great peach smoothie:

Add to the blender:

one banana

some juice (orange-pineapple was the juice-de-jour)

1/3 big tub of plain yogurt

fill in the rest of the blender with peaches---pitted but not skinned

Blend and serve (we had ours with yummy broccoli-cheddar soup and rolls--soup being another one of my suggestions to eat healthily and on-the-cheap).  Yummy!

You know I love smoothies. ;) Great idea. Your daughters might like some almonds mixed in as well.
