Back to School!
And we are so excited. Just a quick preview of our menu for the upcoming week:
1. Get into our schedule: meaning wake up early, get our habits and routines down, focus on what's important.
2. Morning formal school will include: Language Arts (we're using daily journaling, lots of read-alouds and read-alones and The Phonics Road to Spelling and Reading for a good foundation), Math (we're using a combination of Math-U-See Alpha, Saxon Homeschool Grade 1 and Word Problems), and History (Story of the World-Ancients).
3. Other things: Science Wednesdays (we're starting with a study of the human body for the next few months), Charlotte Mason-inspired nature walks and journaling, and craft projects (we're painting rocks this week), Monday afternoon co-op (it's our back-to-homeschool party tomorrow), Friday Park Day (with our other co-op group), violin lessons, gymnastics, Liberty Girls (they're reading Little Maid of Old Philadelphia), and lots of playtime.

How are you integrating all your math programs?
The focus on routines is important. I wish we could really settle into a routine that works.
I like the idea of Science Wednesdays. Will the whole day be devoted to the study of the science topic. I am already thinking about picture books that might work with the Human Body. I haven't thought of one just yet. ;)
