The woods are lovely...

...dark and deep...



Yesterday was spent in the wild.  This 4-mile round trip hike has plenty of beauty in it to fill up a whole week.  Shady woods worthy of fairies and elves, a sun-filled field full of cicadas (one of my favorite sounds), a stunning waterfall at the end where we picniced and played in the shallow stream at it's base.  Just enough challenge to give a good "aaaahhhh" when we finally made our way down and collapsed by the water spigot to wash away the mud from our ankles.
